lightsandbeauty asked: When do students usually hear back about waitlists? I was wait listed at SLU and they are my top choice and would love to know that they will be getting back to me soon.

It is hard to tell when we might go to our waitlist. It depends on when and how many of our admitted students we hear from. Our deadline to deposit was May 1 and deposits are still trickling in. We will not know more information until probably next week or the week after. For more detailed information in the coming weeks you can email admissions@stlawu.edu.

Anonymous asked: Does St. Lawrence match Dollars for Scholars scholarships? If so, up to how much?

Dollars for Scholars is a scholarship program, through Scholarship America, that is nationwide. Areas have chapters that process awards for students and some schools will match all or part of the scholarship amount. Here at SLU we add the scholarship to the financial aid package just as if it was a standard outside scholarship but we do not match any of the award.  Meaning if the student was awarded $1000.00 for the year, only that $1000.00 would be incorporated into their package and they would not get additional funding from St. Lawrence. Visit our Financial Aid website for more information: http://www.stlawu.edu/financialaid/

Anonymous asked: How does rooming work your freshman year? Are athletes usually paired with each other? Can you request a roommate?

All first year students at St. Lawrence are housed in first year dormitories based on their First Year Program (for information on St. Lawrence’s First Year Program, FYP, visit our website: http://www.stlawu.edu/fyp/). Students that do not request any special accommodations are placed with a student in the same FYP. Athletes have been paired with other athletes but that is not always the case. You can request a roommate but the request must be mutual. The individual you request must also request you and the same FYP. If you are in different FYPs, you will be in different buildings or floors and being roommates wont be possible! Hope this helps! For more information visit our Residence Life website: http://www.stlawu.edu/studentlife/departments/residence-life
